Nothing Electrical Tape Can't Fix!

So the other day at work we had this lady come in saying, "My power windows won't work, my door locks won't work, and my dome lights stay on". She had recently taken her Jeep to a local shop to get this problem fixed... Well... the lady said "They must have just done a quick fix to get me back on the road and out of their hair." So when I pulled the rubber boot back to look at the wires to figure out why her power windows weren't working, this is what I see...
They cut the main power wire and put a twist on wire connector on it... They cut the ground wire and wrapped it in electrical tape! This just completely blows my mind.. why would you ever think this was okay? I guess I will never understand...  Apparently there is NOTHING ELECTRICAL TAPE CAN'T FIX!!!

Someone else will get it...

Sadly our generation is the "someone else will get it" generation. We lack the drive that our parents and many others before us once had. We seem to no longer want to work for anything, we expect it to be handed to us. Well news flash for you, life doesn't work that way. You need to get up and work for what you want. In our diesel engines class, we got put in groups and then were assigned an engine. How awesome is that?! We are finally going to be able to turn wrenches for the rest of the day!
It sounds great right? I mean who wouldn't love to be working on an engine. But..we walk into this:
It always sucks walking into an unfinished job, especially when you didn't start it. I fully understand that this is a learning facility, and that we are here to learn. But this is something that grinds my gears. It seemed that every other group only had a few parts taken off of the engine that they were assigned to. But my partner and I walk into the injectors laying in a box, the exhaust manifold laying on a cart, bolts in bags, the valve cover laying on the floor...Not to mention it took 15 minutes for us to figure out how the fuel connector rail fit onto the engine.
So, if you have the mentality of "Someone else will get it," do yourself a favor and quit while you are ahead.. or learn that no one else wants to clean up after you. I guess the whole point of this rant is if you start something, please finish it.
